One of my favorite foods to eat especially when I was sick were BEETS! Not only did I enjoy eating them but it was helpful in naturally combating anemia and the regenerating new red blood cells in the body. Sometimes I’d just boil or chop them up to eat, add them in a salad, or blended them together in a juice! Beets were extremely helpful for me. I remember all of the times when I was younger and never had an appetite for food- at all. I did nutritional studies at my hospital for years during my childhood just to help me eat! Nutrition is so important especially in the healthcare management of Sickle Cell Anemia and ensuring we get the right source of vitamins and minerals.
