One of my favorite foods to eat especially when I was sick were BEETS! Not only did I enjoy eating them but it was helpful in naturally combating anemia and the regenerating new red blood cells in the body. Sometimes I’d just boil or chop them up to eat, add them in a salad, or blended them together in a juice! Beets were extremely helpful for me. I remember all of the times when I was younger and never had an appetite for food- at all. I did nutritional studies at my hospital for years during my childhood just to help me eat! Typically normal red blood cells can last anywhere from 90 to 120 days. On the other hand, Sickle cells are crescent-shaped like a “sickle” or the letter C. When these misshaped cells pass through the tiny blood vessels they can get clumped together, very sticky, and stuck within the blood vessels……
